psychological assessments for children & youth
Give your child the tools and support they need to thrive — at home, at school, and beyond
We offer comprehensive psychological assessments for children and youth (ages 6–18) with Registered Psychologist Amber Perry.
-
Psycho-Educational Assessments (for learning difficulties, ADHD, giftedness, academic planning, and IEP support)
Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessments (diagnostic evaluation)
Mental Health Assessments (for emotional, behavioral, and psychological concerns)
Bundled Assessments (when learning and autism concerns overlap)
Assessments provide families with a clear understanding of their child’s strengths and challenges, along with practical recommendations for school, home, and clinical settings.
many families reach out when:
Falling behind in school or struggling to keep up academically
Showing signs of inattention, impulsivity, or hyperactivity
Experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties (anxiety, mood concerns, meltdowns)
Not meeting developmental milestones or showing signs of autism spectrum disorder
Feeling frustrated, discouraged, or misunderstood
Unfortunately, the current public system in York Region has a waitlist of approximately 5–6 years for psychoeducational assessments, leaving many families without the timely support their child needs.
If nothing changes, these challenges can lead to increased stress at home and at school, lower self-esteem, worsening mental health symptoms, and missed opportunities for early intervention and support.

Working with us is clear and structured:
1
-
You’ll speak with our team to share your primary concerns and determine which type of assessment best fits your child’s needs.
2
-
We’ll provide a written quote you can submit to your insurance provider for pre-determination. Because the assessment is conducted by a Registered Psychologist, it’s often covered by extended health benefits.
-
Parents will complete questionnaires, share school records (report cards, IEPs), and participate in a separate parent interview call.
3
-
Conducted in 1 session (for psycho-ed, sometimes 2 sessions depending on the child).
Appointments are scheduled on weekdays at 9:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.
Parent consent and custody documentation must be provided in advance.
Important details:
Assessments are available during weekday hours only.
Custody documentation must be received prior to booking (if applicable).
Spots fill quickly; we recommend booking early — especially given the long waitlists for publicly funded assessments in York Region.

Once the assessment is complete, parents receive a clear, personalized explanation of results and recommendations during a phone feedback session. A comprehensive written report is provided.
